Cultural Safe Room at Deception Bay

By Tenika Sanders

A ‘Cultural Safe Room’ is now operating at Deception Bay Police Station, creating a safe space for multicultural and first nations people to speak to police officers in a safe and respectful environment.

It was opened last month during an event attended by local police officers and Police Liaison Officers (PLOs) were joined by elders and representatives of the Moreton Bay community

A Queensland Police spokesperson says this initiative marks a pivotal step towards building stronger relationships and trust among community members, organisations and police.
