College to open aquatic precinct

By Tenika Sanders

The Lakes College at North Lakes will officially open the first stage of its $2 million aquatic precinct later this month.

Federal Member for Petrie Luke Howarth will do the honours during a ceremony on August 27.

A new swimming pool completes stage one of the aquatic precinct.

Stage two has been approved and will include a shaded, elevated grandstand adjacent to the outdoor pool and an indoor, heated, learn-to-swim facility on the other side of the existing pool with direct access from the college carpark.

The facility will include an outdoor eight-lane, 25m heated pool with ramp access, an amenities area with changerooms, showers and bathrooms.

There is also a Person With Disability facility onsite plus offices, a kiosk, and storage rooms.
