Rothwell Intersection Upgrade

The Queensland Government has confirmed funding for an upgrade to the Rothwell roundabout. The announcement was made following Luke Howarth MP’s one year long campaign which culminated a visit from The State Opposition Minister for Main Roads, Hon Fiona Simpson MP.

“I invited Fiona to Rothwell to help me pressure the State Government to confirm funding and get the project started”, said Luke Howard MP.

“This funding announcement is fantastic news- it’s exactly what we were calling for and it’s all thanks to the hundreds of locals who joined my campaign.”

According to Luke Howard, The Federal Government committed to $11.7m for the Rothwell intersection upgrade last year December. Moreton Bay Regional Council has committed $3.2 million and the State Government will be funding the remainder $37.5 million.

“The Rothwell roundabout is a dangerous intersection for both motorists and pedestrians,” said Luke Howarth

The upgraded intersection will relieve traffic congestion by increasing capacity and efficiency for motorists, while providing a safer intersection for all road users.
