Joining veterans on Anzac day march

By Tenika Sanders

Carmel and Ron Hendrie, pictured above, who live at Bolton Clarke Fernhill in Caboolture, both hold strong links to the Vietnam War.

With those memories in mind, tomorrow they will join hundreds of others in the Caboolture Anzac Day march.

Ron served in Vietnam as a chef in the Army from 1968, while Carmel’s first husband was one of the six soldiers missing in action from the war.

They met through Carmel’s brother-in-law, fell in love and have been married for more than 50 years.

The Vietnam War took its toll on the both of them, but Carmel says it has pushed them to live a full life together.
