Central works depot in the pipeline

By Tyler Nash

The Deception Bay Moreton Bay Regional Council depot will become an SES depot under a plan to consolidate the region’s three works depots.

The consolidation will create one central facility to help reduce maintenance and operational costs.

Construction will start this month on the $34.3 million-dollar works depot, intersection and road upgrade at Boundary Rd, Narangba, with Council today awarding the contract to ADCO Constructions.

Mayor Peter Flannery says the move will help meet the current and future needs of Council staff and the region, and improve response times to requests with a major works depot in the heart of the region.

“In less than 15 years, this region will have a greater population than Tasmania, and a greater demand for essential services,” Mayor Flannery says.
