Work on the $53 million upgrade of Burpengary railway station is expected to start next month.

It will follow this week’s State Budget including $14.3 million towards the overall cost of providing easier access to the transport system.

The “accessibility improvements” include full-length high-level platforms, a new footbridge with lifts, improved accessible parking, upgraded hearing loops and surface indicators.

Also, upgraded security cameras and lighting, new wayfinding and platform signage as well as a new station office and facilities.
